Auburn invites all to enjoy March 30 Take a Walk in the Park Day

Mar. 282021

AUBURN – The community is invited by the city and Parks Subcommittee of the Auburn Conservation Commission to enjoy a walk in one of Auburn’s parks on Tuesday, March 30.
National Take A Walk in the Park Day is an opportunity for exercise and relaxation and to enjoy the many benefits that come from walking in nature. According to the Mayo Clinic, walking for 30 minutes a day can have significant health benefits, from maintaining a healthy weight, to preventing/managing conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. It also strengthens bones and muscles, improves your mood, balance and coordination.
“Drop your cellphone, put on your sneakers, stretch and get outside with your neighbors! This city has so much to offer,” said Auburn Mayor Jason Levesque in a news release.
“A walk in the park will likely be the most enjoyable part of your day,” said Auburn resident and Conservation Commission Member Tizz Crowley. “Be sure to walk with a clear mind and your eyes open, so you can take in the beauty of nature’s wonders: flowers, trees, birds, and wildlife.”
Auburn has many public parks to explore. For a full list, visit www.auburnmaine.gov/pages/government/public-parks.
