MONMOUTH – Monmouth Academy has announced its January and February students of the month.
February student of the month is Alicen Burnham, a senior, and January student of the month is Ethan Handley, a junior.

Alicen Burnham
Burnham is a member of the Monmouth Academy Student Government, National Honor Society, FBLA, and the varsity soccer, cheerleading and track and field teams. In presenting this award, teacher Elizabeth Ross, Burnham’s math teacher, said, “Alicen is an extremely hard worker who is supportive of friends and teammates. She is a great leader and shows this every day in her classes and extracurricular activities. As a co-editor of the 2021 yearbook, she has had her work cut out for her in this crazy year. She’s kept up with the task all while maintaining a high GPA, captain roles on both of her teams, and leadership positions in her many clubs.”
She is the daughter of Leanne Burnham and Darin Burnham.
Ethan Handley
Handley is an inquisitive and engaged student who has participated in wrestling and an internship with former state Rep. Kent Ackley.
In presenting the award, Morgan Huckey, a Jobs for Maine Grads teacher, said, “Ethan is one of a kind. He is a leader in the classroom and brings some fun every day in class. Ethan is one I know I can rely on to have thoughtful, productive, and creative innovation and then also put a smile on my face with his puns and clever wit.” He is the son of Michelle Handley and David Handley.
