Climate change effect on Maine lakes is March 23 L/A Senior College topic

LEWISTON — Roberta Hill, an aquatic ecologist and environmental educator, will be the presenter in the March 23 Food for Thought program, hosted by University of Southern Maine L/A Senior College.
The program, “How are our lakes affected by climate change?” is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, via Zoom, and is free and open to the public, including those who aren’t seniors.
Hill has been active in the field of lake protection and community outreach in Maine for more than 20 years, leading community-based projects that have ranged from watershed surveys to nonpoint source remediation, to invasive aquatic plant monitoring. She has also been instrumental in the creation and development of some of Maine’s most successful and long-standing lake education programs. She’s currently the invasive species program director for lake stewards of Maine_. B_esides the challenge of invasive species, there are many changes in watersheds affecting water quality, fish species, the presence of algae and more that are caused when air and water temperatures change.
