KINGFIELD — The Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum has released a video, “Tall Timber Classic 50th Anniversary of Maine’s 1971 World Cup Ski Races.”

The half-hour long video, on YouTube, is free to watch and can be found by visiting the museum’s website, maineskiandsnowboard.museum.org. Museum Director Bruce Miles walks viewers through the exhibit, and discusses how the state’s only World Cup ski race was set up, where the participants stayed, international press and TV coverage, how the course was developed, a fire that destroyed the Swiss men’s team skis, how a second race was moved from Austria to Sugarloaf and added to the events, and more.
Sponsors for the presentation are Sugarloaf, Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of Outdoor Recreation and Maine Office of Tourism.
