Neighbors Driving Neighbors names ride coordinator, executive director

MOUNT VERNON — Neighbors Driving Neighbors welcomes Misty Beck as its new ride coordinator.
NDN is a nonprofit organization that provides rides people in Belgrade, Fayette, Mount Vernon, Rome and Vienna. Beck will work part-time for NDN while continuing to teach at the University of Farmington. She comes with many years of volunteer leadership and community involvement.
At NDN’s annual meeting, in January, Mary Beth Paquette, who has been NDN’s manager since March 2019 was named executive director. Paquette’s leadership and her focus on caring for others helps community members stay independent, safe and connected to others, NDN said in a news release announcing the moves.
Neighbors Driving Neighbors volunteers provide free transportation for adults for medical appointments, errands, exercise sessions, classes, shopping, socialization and volunteering. Because of pandemic restrictions, NDN is only providing pre-paid grocery and pharmacy pickup and delivery, as well as food panty delivery. Once NDN drivers are vaccinated, transportation services will reopen.

An online volunteer orientation will be held in February for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer driver.
