SeniorsPlus February slate includes banking, pets, memoirs more

LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus has announced its online Education Center class schedule for February, including introduction to banking, introduction to pets, Zooming tips and more.
All classes are held over Zoom or telephonically. Classes are free, unless noted.
Some of what’s offered include:
BANKING IN 2021, from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, with instructor Kendra Wheeler, branch manager at Bangor Savings Bankm held via Zoom. For better or worse, banking has evolved, learn your options including what to look for in a bank in 2021, how to protect yourself and loved ones while banking online. and what to do if you accidently share your banking account numbers.
INTRODUCE YOUR PET(S) – A SOCIAL HOUR 3:30-4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, with instructors SeniorsPlus Staff, via Zoom. Connect for some fun – we want to meet your pet and hear from you! Join SeniorsPlus with your pet or pets, or photos of them or just yourself. We can’t wait to meet your furry-friends.
WRITING YOUR LIFE STORY. 10 a.m.-noon, Thursdays, Feb. 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18, with instructor Connie Jones, “Surprised by Aging,” via Zoom. This informal class will get you on the road to writing about your life, from the mundane to the marvelous. You don’t have to be a “writer” to take this class, and this will not be a critique of your writing style or grammar. Each week there will be a writing assignment, with topics chosen by the group. At the end, you will have written the first six chapters of your life story. Class limited to 8 people.
ZOOM 101: USING VIDEO TECHNOLOGY TO STAY CONNECTED, 1-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 or 26, with SeniorsPlus staff, via Zoom. Become more familiar on how to use Zoom to participate in SeniorsPlus’ online classes, or to simply stay connected with friends and family near and far. You do not need a Zoom account or to download any apps to participate in this class, unless logging in from an Apple device. You do not need a video camera for your computer, although it is helpful. You can participate with computers or handheld devices. Educational material and resources will be provided for continued learning.
ZOOMING TOGETHER WHILE PHYSICALLY APART, 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, via Zoom. SeniorsPlus has partnered with River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition and Healthy Oxford Hills for a monthly Zoom call where a specific topic is highlighted, including converstion with the group. Learn, socialize, laugh, and have fun together. The February topic is the importance of beingable to recognize fraud and scams and what to do about it. River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will also be giving away one Hannaford gift card to an attendee.
CRAFTING WITH CORINNE, watch at your convenience, pickup material week of Feb. 24, instructor Corinne Saindon, $5 for two-project kit. February’s craft is interactive cards for kids and grandkids. All supplies provided except adhesive. Class limited to 10 people.
