LEWISTON — The USM LA Senior College Food For Thought presentation for Feburary will be a discussion of the book “Teddy Roosevelt, Millie and the Elegant Ride,” and its real Maine connections.
The sessoin, featuring presenters Phil Morse and Jean Flahive, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, on Zoom. Based on a true encounter, author Flahive’s book tells the story of a young farm girl from Gray who meets Teddy Roosevelt, a passenger on the Narcissus, an electric trolley that once ran between Lewiston and Portland. Today, the Narcissus is being restored at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport. Morse is the project manager of the restoration. Jean and Phil will tell us all the history including the Lewiston connections.
The presentation is free and open to the poublic. To attend, email laseniorcollege@gmail.com by noon Monday, Feb. 16, for an email with the Zoom link.
