Kennebec Valley YMCA gets money for child care programs

AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley YMCA was granted funding for both of its child care programs recently.
The money went to the Learning Center, for childrean age six weeks to five years old, and to Kids Zone, for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade.
The Y used the money to buy strollers for the Learning Center, a two-passenger, a four-passenger and a six-passenger. The children of the Learning Center will enjoy these strollers for walks around the Augusta campus and the beautiful Capitol Park, conveniently located just 100 yards away, Y officials said.
The KIDS ZONE money was used to buy new technology for remote and hybrid learning. During the full day and after school child care, the children are scheduled homework time to maximize their learning opportunities. Other activities scheduled daily include:
* Arts and Crafts * STEM projects
* Music and Dance
* Swimming
* Use of both KVYMCA facilities
* Free transportation from Manchester to Augusta
* Access to Camp KV (weather permitting)/
