RAYMOND — The Raymond Arts Alliance was recently a recipient of an $865 grant from the Maine Humanities Council.
The RAA applied for the grant to help fund equipment that would enable live streaming for concerts. The grant application was helped by Jessica Fay and Lorraine Glowczack, who included recommendation letters stressing RAA’s importance to the community, particularly since the MHC doesn’t usually fund equipment needs.
The RAA had hoped to use the equipment for its first concert, live streaming the work of Time Zones, an innovative that performs music from the Middle East, original jazz and more. The group includes Gary Wittner on the seven-string guitar, Michael Gallant on the violi, and Eric LaPerna on the tabla and other percussion instruments. The concert has had to be resheduled several times. Information about this concert and others will be update don the RAA Facebook page.
In other RAA news, the Artists in the Library exhibit program will resume shortly. Artists who would like to participate should email raymondartsalliance@gmail.com.
