LA Stuff the Bus final donation day is Dec. 13

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce annual Stuff the Bus event is drawing to a close, but there is still time to donate toys or clothing for community children in need, including those whose families have been hit hard by the pandemic.
New toys and clothing for local children in need may be dropped off through Sunday, Dec. 13, at the chamber, 415 Lisbon St., and “bus stops” — the participating businesses helping with collection. On Monday, Dec. 14, the LA Metro Chamber Team will travel around the two cities on a Northeast Charter bus, collecting all of the donated gifts from the public drop-off locations and participating businesses, sort the items and distribute them tos non-profit organizations.
“The LA Metro Chamber relies on the generosity of community members to support the local organizations who help families in need during the holidays,” said LA Metro Chamber President and CEO Shanna Cox. “We simply get the word out and coordinate the collection and distribution of gifts, it is our community who really make ‘Stuff the Bus’ the success that it is each year. We know we can rely on LA to help families having a tough year have a happy holiday in 2020.”
Walmart Auburn and Walmart Distribution Center Lewiston are joining forces with the chamber. LAMCC and its business partners have collaborated for years to meet local community needs. With supporters like Walmart and the Walmart Distribution Center this year, the LAMCC is able to reach more families than ever before , organizers said, helping many through the economic hardships brought on by the pandemic.
All donations for Stuff the Busl remain in the community. For more information, visit lametrochamber.com/bus. Organizers ask that donors remember to wear a mask while dropping of their donations.
