Watermelon tourmaline on exhibit at Gallery 302

BRIDGTON — A exhibition featuring Maine watermelon tourmaline jewelry is behing held at Gallery 302 through the end of the year.
The tourmaline discovery made at the Dunton Mine, in Newry, in 1972, gave Maine a bounty of watermelon tourmaline. While that discovery results in very little real watermelon tourmaline available today, new watermelon tourmaline resembles its name with its cut watermelon wedge shapes, exhibiting a remarkable phenomenon of color.
The display of Jim Mann’s watermelon tourmaline can be seen at the gallery through the holidays. The gallery is at 112 Main St.
