Lakes Region forum is on Zoom Sept. 29

BELGRADE — Candidates for Maine House District 76 and Maine Senate District 17 will participate in an online public forum from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The forum is organized by the town of Belgrade’s Communications Committee and is sponsored by the Belgrade Public Library. The Zoom link is available at townofbelgrade.com/sept29forum. The forum will also be streamed live at facebook.com/belgrademaine.
The forum will be moderated by Jay Bradshaw, and will be recorded and posted afterward on the town’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Candidates for Senate District 17 are Russell Black and Jan Collins. The district includes the towns of Avon, Belgrade, Carrabassett Valley, Carthage, Chesterville, Coplin Plantation, Dallas Plantation, East Central Franklin, Eustis, Farmington, Fayette, Industry, Jay, Kingfield, Mount Vernon, New Sharon, New Vineyard, North Franklin, Phillips, Rangeley, Rangeley Plantation, Sandy River Plantation, Strong, Temple, Vienna, Weld, West Central Franklin, and Wilton.
Candidates for House Seat 76 are Deborah Emery and Dan Newman. The district includes the towns of Belgrade, Fayette, Mount Vernon, Rome, Vienna and Wayne.
Election Day is Tuiesday, Nov. 3. Absentee ballots will be available beginning Oct. 5.
“We are pleased that all the candidates can participate in the forum,” said Regina Coppens, chair of the Communications Committee. “This will give voters a chance to get to know their candidates ahead of the election. As Thomas Jefferson said, ‘An informed citizenry is at the heart of a dynamic democracy.’”
