AUBURN — A ceremony naming the basketball court at Central Maine Community College for longtime Mustgangs athletic director and coach Dave Gonyea will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.
Gonyea’s permanent signature on the newly refurbished Mustangs home court at Kirk Hall on the CMCC campus will be unveiled at the ceremony. In-person attendance will be limited to speakers, special guests and the media to comply with CDC guidelines.

Gonyea, director of athletics, housing and security, and has been men’s basketball head coach since 1993, also:
holds 514-234 record over 26 seasons;
was named New England Coach of the Year 1996-97;
named NSCAA Athletic Director of the Year 1998-99 and 2000-01;
named USCAA Athletic Director of the Year 2002;
named MSCC Coach of the Year 1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03;
named Yankee Conference Coach of the Year 2007-08, 2013-14, 2015-16;
inducted into the USCAA Hall of Fame in 2017.
Under Gonyea’s leadership, the Mustangs have won nine league championships, three New England championships, participated in 12 NSCAA/USCAA national championship tournaments, and won the USCAA national championship in 2002.
In 2012, he led the Mustangs to a Yankee Conference record of 18-0, a Yankee Conference championship, and a trip to the USCAA National Tournament. He has coached 17 All-Americans and numerous All-Conference players.
