Judging for annual waterfowl stamp art contest is online July 17

AUGUSTA — Judging for the annual waterfowl stamp art contest, held by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will be held live online at 4 p.m. Friday, July 17.
Each year the judging of the waterfowl stamp art contest is held at the State of Maine Sportsman Show in Augusta, but becasue of the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was not held this year.

In the contest, artists submit an original painting of a designated species of waterfowl. This year’s designated contest species is the red-breasted merganser. Learn more about the contest and see previous year’s artwork at mefishwildlife.com. [2]
The winning artist’s piece will be used to create the 2020 State Waterfowl Hunting Stamp. Waterfowl stamps are available for purchase by collectors, and revenues from the sales of both the stamp and the waterfowl hunting permit are dedicated to waterfowl conservation programs in Maine.
