UMF junior accepts summer intern position at Maine Authors Publishing

FARMINGTON — Amelia Metcalfe, a junior at the University of Maine at Farmington majoring in creative writing and minoring in English, will be joining the staff of Maine Authors Publishing as a summer intern.
“We are thrilled that Amelia is joining the team this summer,” said Nikki Giglia, managing editor. “I’m glad we are able to give a UMF student the opportunity to learn about the world of publishing and to be part of the talented Maine authors community.”
Metcalfe will be working remotely with the staff and authors of Maine Authors Publishing. Her responsibilities will include conducting a summer-long project of interviewing and writing features for the spring/summer 2020 authors, assisting with publicity and attending marketing consultations via Zoom. In addition to those projects, she will be working with the Maine Authors Publishing staff as they guide authors through the publishing process.
“I’ve always been an avid reader and creative writer,” she said, “which is why I’m grateful to be able to work with a company that is passionate about authors sharing their voices with the world on their own terms.”
Metcalfe lives in Waldoboro with her grandparents and her cat Minette. She loves reading fantasy books, riding horses and gathering flowers and food from her garden.
