Raymond Village Community church welcomes new pastor

RAYMOND — Raymond Village Community Church has hired the Rev. Petra Smyth as the church’s new leader.
Smyth will be responsible for the leading the spiritual life of the church and the surrounding community. She begins June 1.

Church Moderator Tom Wiley said, “We are excited to enter this phase of our church life under her leadership and guidance. Community involvement will continue to be a strong trademark of our church.”
Smyth has 10 years of church and pastoral leadership experience. She began her career in clinical pastoral education at Maine Medical Center and completed a master of divinity at Bangor Theological Seminary.
She initially entered into a covenant to serve as pastor at Waterford Congregational Church UCC and Sweden Community Church. She comes to RVCC most recently serving as a supply pastor, moderator at the Oxford/Union Association and as a bridge pastor for State Street Church UCC.
“I am delighted to be part of the Raymond Village Community Church and look forward to serving the congregation with joy,” said Smyth.
