LA Arts looking to reach community with creative ideas for arts during pandemic

LEWISTON — LA Arts is approaching the challenge of this moment creatively. With a mission to make Lewiston-Auburn a vibrant community through arts and culture, experiencing the arts is a key to feeling connected to community in these times of isolation. Some of our creative solutions include:
* Taking Art Walk LA online. LA Arts will offer a program of virtual arts events on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram Friday, May 29. It will include a virtual art walk that will include an artist’s studio tour, a poetry reading, a musical performance and more. Artists are encouraged to register for this event at www.laarts.org/artwalk/register/.Keep an eye on our new website and social media for details at laarts.org.
* Updating the Arts and Culture LA Calendar with local arts events, both virtual and in-person. Email contact@laarts.org to add an event.
* Commissioning an exciting new public artwork for both Auburn and Lewiston through a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, with an announcment about these two works coming soon.
Please note the new CARES Act includes added tax incentives for charitable giving. Anyone can make a one-time or ongoing contribution in any amount on the LA Arts website and acknowledgemrnt of the gift will be in the organization’s annual report and year-end advertising.
