Kennebec Behavioral Health’s Pat McKenzie receives recognition award

AUGUSTA – Pat McKenzie, administrator for Kennebec Behavioral Health’s Outpatient and Substance Abuse Services, was recently honored by the Peer Support Specialist Network of Maine for her service to Maine’s peer support community.
McKenzie was presented with the recognition award at the organization’s statewide annual meeting in January.

The Peer Support Specialist Network of Maine advocates for workforce support and development, offering support and education in a variety of ways to both peer support specialists and to community providers, including mental health and substance use agencies, inpatient hospitals, and peer-run recovery centers. The organization’s goal is to improve the health outcomes experienced by people with serious mental illness in the state of Maine.
According to Alicia Hafford of Amistad (amistadmaine.org) and manager of the Peer Support Specialist Network, the award was created for McKenzie. “She has been a loyal supporter of the Intentional Peer Support Program and to many in the peer community for many years, and the award was presented to her by Kelly Staples, the facilitator of the CIPSS (Certified Peer Support Specialists) program. Pat is a champion advocate, promoting the expansion of peer services throughout behavioral health and health care settings.”
Kennebec Behavioral Health’s CEO Tom McAdam shared his sentiments as well, noting “Pat is one of our state’s most ardent supporters of peer and family services. KBH is fortunate to have Pat’s advocacy and leadership as part of our organization.”
