Mount Vernon food bank open, has COVID-19-related safety policies

MOUNT VERNON — The First Baptist Food Bank is open and its hours remain the same; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The food bank is helping to slow the spread of COVID-19 by enacting policies that will continue until the virus is no longer a concern.
Only one person from a household (the driver) should come to the food bank. Whenarriving, remain in your vehicle and leave all the windows closed. A volunteer will get your name, address and phone number. New customers will not be asked to fill out an application. Pre-packed boxes and bags will be brought to the vehicle.
Those who are ill and can not get to the food bank may use an emergency bag before asking for someone to deliver food. Residents of Mount Vernon, Vienna or Fayette can call Neighbors Driving Neighbors at 207-860-0677 by Wednesday for a Saturday delivery. Readfield residents should call 207-685-4939 and ask for assistance or use www.readfieldmaine.org. If all else fails, call the food bank at 207-(293-2141 on Saturday between 8 and 10 a.m. and staff will try to arrange a delivery.
