Drive-by birthday parade planned for Turner centenarian, veteran

TURNER — A drive-by parade will be held for Roy Nickerson’s 100th birthday on Wednesday, April 15.
Everyone in the Turner area is invited and encouraged to join in to give Nickerson some birthday cheer by participating.
The parade will be on Blake Street near the Turner Fire Station. Those participating will assemble at 5:30 p.m. At about 5:45 p.m., the parade will head up Blake Street, go through Roy’s driveway, and exit onto Route 4.
Those participating may bring signs, smiles, songs — whatever they have that can help make his birthday special and memorable.
Nickerson is a U.S. Air Force veteran, who served from 1939 to 1961). He owned Nickerson’s Septic Service and Nickerson’s Country Store from 1961 to 1986. He also served five years as a Turner selectman and eight in the Maine State Legislature.
