Winslow Public Library puts distance circulation and reference in place

WINSLOW — While the Winslow Public Library building is closed to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, the library staff will be available via phone and email between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday trough Friday to assist patrons with distance borrowing and reference questions.
Patrons of the library can visit the website at winslowlibrarycirculation@winslow-me.gov or call 207-872-1978.
The libary asks that patrons be patient while it provides distance services. Patrons may need to call several times or wait a while before someone gets back to them after a request.
To do remote borrowing, patrons can email or call the library between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday to request books, DVDs and audio books or to renew items they currently have out.
If the items being requested are available, the staff will find them and check them out to the person requesting.
The library will then contact the patron to pick up the materials. Patrons should wait to be contacted as it may take some time to process the request. When patrons get to the library, they should ring the doorbell. A staff member will come to the door and ask the patron’s name. Once the staff knows who the person is, the person should step back at least six feet from the door and the staff member will leave their items on top of the book-drop for them to take.
A few more details:
* All materials can be returned via the book drop.
* If patrons cannot return items to the library, because of quarantine or illness, we are happy to renew your items until April 1 to give patrons time to return them.
* If the patron needs beyond April 1, they should call or email and the libary will make decisions about extensions on a case-by-case basis. * Inter-library loans have been put on hold until further notice.
* Patrons may return inter-library loanb items to the library via the book drop. The staff will check them in and hold them until the state library starts Inter-library loan services.
