L/A Community Little Theater announces cast of ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’

AUBURN — L/A Community Little Theater has announced the cast of its upcoming performance of “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a parody of the musical comedies of the 1920s.
The show is scheduled for April 17 through April 26. The production features music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, based on the book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar.
The cast features Jonathan Carr as the man in the chair, Rachel Campoli as Janet Van De Graff, Jude Leaver as Robert Martin, and Ashleigh St.Pierre as the drowsy chaperone. Other cast members include: Ken Mansur as George, Chris Dostie as Aldolpho, Jane Mitchell as Mrs. Tottendale, Jim McKinley as Underling, Roger Philippon as Feldzeig, Jordyn Chelf as Kitty, Dan Kane as Gangster 1, Aaron Louque as Gangster 2, Lacey Moyse, Lynn O’Donnell, Maggie Machaiek, and Heather Marichal as Ensemble, with Sara Poulin-Caron as Trix and Eric Thompson as Superintendent.
Christopher Hodgkin, is director, and assisting are Paul G. Caron, music director; Eileen Messina and KC Andreu, co-choreographers; Ashley Hodgkin, costumer; Brandon Chaloux, producer and assistant director; Noah Keneborus, stage manager.
“The Drowsy Chaperone” debuted in 1998 in Toronto and opened on Broadway in 2006. Hailed by New York Magazine as “the perfect Broadway musical,” it was the winner of five Tony Awards in 2006, including Best Book, Costume Design for a Musical, and Best Original Score.
The play within a play tells the story of “the man in a chair,” a diehard theater aficionado. Each time he plays a record of his favorite musical, the characters come to life in his living room, resulting in madcap mayhem.
