Latest central, western Maine closings, postponements, cancellations

A variety of events that had been scheduled for upcoming weeks have been canceled or postponed. Information about how to find out about future events or postponement dates are included when they’ve been provided.

The Lewiston Public Library will be closed unitl April 6, at which point the situation will be re-evaluated. During this period, any items borrowed from the library should be retained and not returned. Fines will be waived while the library is closed.

Carrabasett Valley Public Library has canceled all public programs, as well as the children’s play area_,_ until further notice. The library will remain open and access to library materials will remain available. The library will continue its practices of heightened cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and improving opportunities for “social distancing” within the library. Rescheduling of events will be announced via FaceBook.

Gendron Franco Center, 36 Chestnut St. in Lewiston has announced postponements and cancellations. Postponements include Josee Vachon concert scheduled for March 18 to June 10; Comedy Invitational March 20 to June 19; Medeival Fest March 27 and 28 to July 24 and 25; Skosh: A Celebration of the Music of Prince, from April 18 to June 20. Cancellations include the March 19 and April 19 Le Rencontre; April 1 Scottish Fiddle Orchestera; April 11 Adult Prom and April 17 piano concert.

Alfond Youth & Community Center in Waterville have suspended the following events: March 17 Unified Basketball Festival, March 19 Business After Hours, March 26 AYCC Dedication Ceremony, March 29 Wrestling Tournament, April 6 Camp Expo & Healthy Kids Day.

Sunday River ski area will suspend all remaining season events, including the World Pro Ski Tour Finals, scheduled for April 4 to 5.
