Events, series, classes canceled across central Maine

A variety of events and more have been canceled across central Maine in light of concerns about the COVID-19 virus.

BELGRADE
The Friends of the Library book sale, scheduled for Saturday, March 14, will not take place. The Friends will host their annual book sale July 4 at the Belgrade Public Library. A candidates’ forum of town officer hopefuls scheduled for Friday, March 13, at the library, was also canceled.

BRUNSWICK
Midcoast Senior College has canceled its spring 2020 term.

FAYETTE
The March 22 speaking engagement with Libby Bischof is postponed until 2 p.m. Sunday May 17, because a medical issue with the presenter.

WINSLOW
The town of Winslow and Kennebec Valley Council of Governments has decided to postpone a March 21 community meeting at Winslow Elementary School that was to get public input on the town’s comprehensive plan.

WINTHROP
Kennebec Land Trust is canceling its Lyceum speaker series on medicinal plants, which had been scheduled for March and April. It may be held later this fall or next year. “Instead of attending the Lyceum, we hope you will visit one of KLT’s beautiful conservation properties or take a hike in your own woods or neighborhood,” the trust said. “We will keep you posted about the new dates.
