Mechanic Falls photo contest submission period opens March 15

MECHANIC FALLS – The Mechanic Falls Historical Society is taking submissions for its annual photography contest.
This year’s theme is “the Maine outdoors,” and the contest is open to all who like to take photographs, including amateurs, semiprofessionals, or people who are good at taking photographs. Professionals are welcome, too, but must say so when submitting their entry.
Submissions close May 15, and photographs entered could have been taken 50 years ago or on the day submissions close.
Photographs can be color or black and white. Persons participating can enter up to four photographs. Only one photograph entry can win.
All photographs will be exhibited during Mechanic Falls Community Day, held on first weekend of June.
Entries can be submitted from March 15 to May 15.
Other requirements are:
* Location where photo taken; * 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 sized print; * Must be matted; can be framed.
There are two divisions: Adult: 16 and up; Youth: 15 or younger
There will be a first, second and third-place winner in each division, and a Best of Show winner.
Prizes are yet to be determined.
Entries can be dropped off at the Mechanic Falls Public Library or Town Office or mailed to Mechanic Falls Town Office, 108 Lewiston St., Mechanic Falls, ME 04256. Label envelope with Photograph Contest Historical Society.
Students at Regional School Unit 16 school we can arrange a pickup of the photograph at the school office.
Each entry should include the submitters name, address, phone number, email address, date photo was taken if known, whether it’s an adult or youth division entry and location of photo. Professional photographers must say they are a professional photographer.
