‘Scammers and Their Tactics’ scheduled for March 12 in Bridgton

BRIDGTON — The Ladies Guild of First Congregational Church of Bridgton and Sgt. Phil Jones of the Bridgton Police Dept. will present “Scammers and Their Tactics,” at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Fellowship Hall of the Church, 33 South High St.
The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be available. There is plenty of parking and the facility is handicapped accessible.
According to the United States Federal Trade Commission, in 2018, $1.48 billion was stolen from unsuspecting U.S. residents. In Maine, there were 738 reports of defrauding in the same period, a number that increased to 807 last year, according to the FTC Consumer Sentinel Network.
