SKOWHEGAN – Somerset County Soil & Water Conservation District has announced the return of its annual trout sale. Sale proceeds benefit the Somerset SWCD education and outreach activities throughout Somerset County and at its Yankee Woodlot Demonstration Forest in Skowhegan.
The Somerset SWCD’s mission is to promote the conservation and stewardship of soil, water, woodlands and wildlife habitat through outreach, education and technical services for the farmers, woodland owners, residents and municipalities of Somerset County.
Again this year MicMac Farms of Caribou is the supplier of brook trout. The cost is $3 per fish, which are expected to be 6 inches to 8 inches at time of pickup. Rainbow trout are sourced from Spectrum Trout of Paris. The cost is $2.25 per fish, which are expected to be 4 inches to 5 inches at time of pickup.
