Rangeley students take home 28 awards in Maine Scholastic Art competition

PORTLAND — Maine College of Art has announced the winners of the 2020 Scholasitc Art Awards, including 28 awards won by students in Rangeley. Jury members included Portland Museum of Art staff, professional artists, and local gallery curators. More than 50 schools were represented, and included students from more than 70 Maine towns, and more than 1,000 works.
The work of Gold and Silver Key winners will be displayed at the 2020 Maine Region Scholastics Art Exhibition Feb. 28 to March 14, at the Maine College of Art. A reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6.
The 2020 Maine Region Scholastics Art Exhibition will culminate with an awards ceremony on Saturday, March 14. Times are 10 a.m. to noon for grades 7 to 11, and 1 to 3 p.m. for grade 12. Congressional Art Competition winners will also be announced at the ceremony.
Awards to Rangeley students were: American Visions Award (Best in Show / only five awarded in each region): Olivia Pye.
Gold Keys: Olivia Pye, Lauren Farmer (three Gold Keys), Cassie Cielinski, Lily Shaffer.
Silver Keys: Lauren Eastlack, Olivia Pye (two Silver Keys), Cassie Cielinski, Tori White.
Honorable Mentions: Charlotte Casko, Lauren Eastlack (four Honorable Mentions, including a photography portfolio), Eva Spear, Lauren Farmer (four Honorable Mentions, including a photography portfolio), Averie Flewelling, Lily Lavallee, Charlie Pye, Olivia Pye (photography portfolio), Anna Rose Ross (two Honorable Mentions), Lily Shaffer.
