AUGUSTA — Patsy Garside Crockett was re-elected to serve as chairwoman of the Kennebec County Commissioners for 2020. Crockett was elected commissioner of Kennebec County District 1, which includes the Augusta, Chelsea, China, Manchester, Sidney, Vassalboro and Windsor.

“We work very well together to keep the county tax rate at a reasonable level each year,” Crockett said. “We have faced a number of challenges with the opioid epidemic causing an increase in our jail population, and we have worked with Sheriff (Ken) Mason and D.A. (Maeghan) Maloney to find solutions that keep the cost of incarceration as low as possible to help taxpayers.”
Crockett has served Kennebec County on the Workforce Development Board, tax abatement appeals, negotiated labor contracts as a Director of Spirit of America and worked on all county department budgets. “I look forward to serving as chairwoman for this coming year working with all Kennebec County elected and appointed personnel.”
