Cancer Resource Center January calendar set

NORWAY – The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has set its January schedule, including continuation of the popular Shellie Leger memoir workshop, for those impacted by cancer.
Leger will hold a workshop at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, “The First Slice – The Restorative Power of Memoir.” Those attending don’t have to have attended the December workshop.
The weekly exercise class will return at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, with a new name, “Keep Moving,” and will be at Saco Bay Physical Therapy located at 176 Main St., and contiue through the month.
New in January is “Awaken Your Heart,” at Friday, Jan. 24, with Kathryn Gardner at the Caswell Conservancy Center in Harrison, a way to learn somatic and soul-centered practices to help the healing journey for more information call her at 207-890-7832.
In case of inclement weather, when School Administrative District 17 cancels school, the center will be closed and all activities canceled for the day.
The center also offers support groups, rally groups for men, exercise and other activities.
Drop in hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or find resources. There are also pamphlets and a lending library. Survivorship Programs for swimming and Caring Coupons for massage, reiki, reflexology or therapeutic yoga are offered for those impacted by cancer and their caregiver.
The center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in scheduled programs. Activities such as coloring, knitting and games are available at all times.
