Norway church opens Second Chance Thrift Shop

NORWAY — Second Congregational Church, United Church of Christ has opned the Second Chance Thrift Shop, a fter a year of planning, decorating and stocking.
The money raised by the shop will go directly to the church’s missions. It’s open 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. On the third Friday of the month, in conjunction with the monthly free supper, the shop will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. It accepts cash and checks.
The church’s missions include the monthly free supper, meeting space for Girl Scouts, AA, Christmastide, children’s community choir, Lego Club, home school groups and more. The church, which is more than 100 years old, will also use the money to renovate the dining room and kitchen area, upgrade lighting and help with plowing, heating and maintenance expenses.
The shop is now accepting any new, clean and gently used donations, such as working small appliances, linens, dishes, cookware, household items, decorating items, kids toys, sporting goods, tools and furniture. It does not accept clothing, large appliances, TVs or computer items. Because all items are donated, prices are kept reasonable for everyone.
