Gorham 5k will raise money for radon treatment in low-income homes

Nov. 242019

GORHAM – Online registration is open for the 2020 Indoor Insanity 5K event scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 12 at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
In addition to being a fun family-friendly activity, 100 percent of the money raised will be used to install radon gas treatment systems in lowpincome homes where radon gas has been detected at dangerous levels. Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers, and the number 2 cause of lung cancer overall. Mitigation systems can be costly for low income Mainers, and no other resources are available to protect families from lung cancer through installation of a radon mitigation system.
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Free long-sleeve cotton T-shirts for registrations received by Dec. 21. Event day registration for all heats opens at 7 a.m. with the first heat starting at 8 a.m. The event ends by 11 a.m. An after-race party is scheduled at Sebago Brewing.
