AUBURN — St. Dominic Academy is holding an open house Thursday, Nov. 21, for prospective students and their parents, at its Auburn campus, 121 Gracelawn Ave.
The open house is from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can take a tour of the campus and meet coaches, teachers, and students to hear about the St. Dom’s experience.
“If, as Jesus says, ‘Where your heart is, there your treasure will be,’ the heart of St. Dom’s can most definitely be found in its people — its faculty, its students, its parents, its benefactors and supporters,” said Timothy Gallic, president of St. Dom’s. “That is where we find our treasure. From them come love and compassion, stability, and welcome. These are the qualities of a successful school, and we look forward to having people observe our special community on November 21.”
A ninth-grade placement test will be held at the Auburn campus at 8:30 a,.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. The test is a standardized timed test required of every eighth grader applying to attend St. Dom’s (entering ninth grade for 2020-21 school year). The exam is not an entrance exam. It contains five sections that measure verbal ability, quantitative ability, reading comprehension, mathematics and components of written language.
“By introducing this new placement test, we will make certain that students are placed appropriately in our school,” said Gallic. “This test is used primarily for course placement to ensure that our upper grades are receiving challenging course work and given the best opportunities to be successful.”
