Winthrop Historical Society will host local historian Nov. 14

WINTHROP — Historian Monika McLaughlin will be the guest speaker at the Winthrop Historical Society meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Winthrop Town Office, 17 Highland Ave.
McLaughlin will focus on East Winthrop, once a thriving small town and home to several businesses, its own school, post office, newspaper and store. Who were the residents and how were their lives similar or different from our own? Step back in time and learn more about its people, places and stories with McLaughlin, an educator, writer and local historian.
Refreshments will be served after the presentation, followed by the dociety’s regular business meeting. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Mary Richards at 207-366-9663.
