Pettingill School stone sign debuts at College and Little streets in Lewiston

LEWISTON — Tom Fylstra and Alan Merritt, instructors at the Lewiston Regional Technical School, are in the final stages of completing work on the historic “Pettingill School” stone sign, recently mounted on the corner of College and Little streets at Pettingill School Park.
Most recently they have been busy filling in the chips and cracks that resulted when the sign fell two stories during the school demolition a few years ago. They have also added a fresh coat of white paint. The final touches will include painting the bottom edges and reverse side, planting shrubs behind the brick base and, perhaps, installing a raised flower bed along the front side.
