Jake Lord Foundation Basketball Fundraiser is Nov. 29 in Jay

JAY — The Jake Lord Foundation 8th annual Basketball Fundraiser will be played Friday, Nov. 29, at Spruce Mountain High School, 33 Community Drive.
The tournament will also include a silent auction, raffle, prizes, 50/50, concessions and basketball games. Donations for admission are accepted at the door. All proceeds benefit The Jake Lord Play It Safe Foundation.
Girls and boys varsity teams from Leavitt, Spruce Mountain, Mount View and Buckfield will play, beginning at 12:45 p.m.
The mission of the Jake Lord Play It Safe Foundation is to promote safety in youth sports, to increase public awareness of the impact of concussions on the mental health of athletes and to promote public policies that will protect youth from the devastating consequences of head injuries. The foundation was founded in 2012 in memory of Jake Lord, a a Jay native and athlete, who took his own life at the age of 19 after enduring multiple sports-related concussions.
