Somail Bantu CA, Wisdom’s Women get MaineCF Androscoggin grants

ELLSWORTH — The Androscoggin County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $2,000 grants to the Somali Bantu Community Association and the Center for Wisdom’s Women to mark the 20th anniversary of the Androscoggin County Fund.
The grants were announced by MaineCF President and CEO Steve Rowe at the LA Metro Chamber’s August breakfast meeting. “These two organizations are doing exceptional work to build and strengthen community in the Lewiston Auburn area,” Rowe said. “Small investments in these organizations have supported positive impacts for the Somali Bantu community and for women who have been marginalized for a variety of reasons. We are honored to be able to support and recognize their work.”
Established in 1999 as a permanent charitable resource, the Androscoggin County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded 141 grants totaling more than $535,000 to support nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life in Androscoggin County.
