Maine Chapter of American Mothers announces nominees for Mother of the Year

AUGUSTA — The Maine Chapter of American Mothers Inc. has announced 16 nominees for the 2020 Mother of the Year. The nominations were received between Mother’s Day and Sept. 15. The celebration event to honor and recognize all of the nominees is the first of its kind in Maine and will be held Friday, Nov. 22, at Le Club Calumet, 334 West River Road.
Maine led the way nationally with the most nominations. The state chapter is working diligently to create awareness and grow the association throughout the State of Maine, so that Maine mother’s may be recognized and have a voice in Washington, D.C., during the American Mothers Inc. national convention in April.
This year’s nominees for Mother of the Year are Erika Sawtelle, Hallowell; Jennifer Weymouth-Richards, Whitefield; Julie O’Brien, Augusta; Jean Higgins, Litchfield; Nancy Lessard, Jackman; Rebecca Pushard, Manchester; Patricia Perkins, Waterville; Joni Gordon, Oxford; Adrian Phair, Oakland; Lisa Wardwell, Augusta; Jessica Desjardins, Saco; Meghan Hamblett, East Boothbay; Olga Babb, South Portland; Dory Anna Richards Waxman, Portland; Martha Everatt-St. Pierre, Winthrop; and Laura Murphy, Readfield.
Each of these mothers has the option of submitting their portfolio for consideration if they choose to go on to the next level. One will be selected and honored as the 2020 Maine Mother of the Year and will represent the state at the national convention in April, competing for National Mother of the Year.
