Great Falls Model Railroad Club is Nov. 2 in Topsham

TOPSHAM — The Great Falls Model Railroad Club annual fall train show will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Mt. Ararat High School.
Model trains in various scales, built by model train enthusiasts throughout Maine, will be operating all day. The large HO modular layout includes sections created by students in Model Railroading Classes offered by the Great Falls Model Railroad Club through the Auburn Adult Education program. The HO Modular Group has added two new corners for this show. These sections have been under construction for more than a year, and have wider curves that will allow for larger locomotives.
Another added feature this year is a Square-Foot Modeling Contest. For the first time in several years, club members have been creating small railroad scenes with intricate details. This year’s entries will also include a Christmas theme. The Square-Foot Models will be displayed at the show and visitors will be given ballots to vote for their favorites. At the end of the show, winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded.
Dealers from around New England will be available to answer questions and to sell new and used model railroad items. “Train Time” videos will be shown continuously and can be purchased. Mt. Ararat Sports Boosters benefit from the sale of refreshments.
Admission is $5 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under. For more information, visit www.greatfallsmodelrrclub.org.
