Howard Hill Historical Park in Augusta dedicated

City officials, representatives of Kennebec Land Trust, and others gathered Oct. 10 at the dedication of the new Howard Hill Historical Park in Augusta. The 164-acre park is owned by the city, and Kennebec Land Trust holds the conservation easement. It is also connected to the Effie L. Berry Conservation Area in Hallowell, and the park can be accessed from Stevens Commons in Hallowell, as well as off Sewall Street and Ganneston Drive, in Augusta. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the city plans to add restrooms and parking at the Ganneston entrance. Photos show the group who attended the dedication gathered on one of two scenic overlooks at the park, a display of historical photos of the area and Augusta; and the view from the overlook, with the Maine Sate House at the right.
