Auburn Fire Department open house is Oct. 19

AUBURN — The Auburn Fire Department open house will be held from noon to 4 p.m, Saturday, Oct. 19.
Fire Chief Robert Chase and Fire Prevention Officer David O’Connell welcome local families the free event, which will take place rain or shine at the department’s Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.
The Fire Department’s annual open house commemorates October’s National Fire Safety Month.
As a special edition to this year’s Open House, firefighters will facilitate a live fire demonstration of the dangers of turkey fryers at 2 p.m.
The open house will also include a special training session on kitchen cooking safety as well as a bouncy house, free pizza and beverage lunch, blood pressure checks, fire extinguisher training, and an up-close look at fire trucks and ambulances. Special guests include officers from the Auburn Police Department, Maine Forestry, LA 911, and the local Red Cross.
There will also be a special gift celebrating the city of Auburn and the Auburn Fire Department’s 150th year in service.
