Annual non-denominational community service set for Veterans Day in Lewiston

LEWISTON — Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church will hold its 15 annual Veterans Day community prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
Members of all denominations and faith affliations, and the entire community, are invited to the church, at 607 Sabattus St., for song, prayer and reflection honoring those who have served and those who are currently serving in the U.S. armed forces.
Deacon Renee Richards, of Prince of Peace Parish; the Rev. Marian Marks, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church; Rabbi Sruli Dresner, Temple Shalom Synagogue, and the Rev. Lloyd Waterhouse, Grace Fellowship Church, as well as other area clergy will join in the service.
Music will be a combined effort of choir members from area Lewiston and Auburn churches, directed and accompanied by Paul Caron, who will perform his own arrangement of military songs that honor the different branches of the military as the flags for each are presented.
The Kora Temple Highlanders will also join in the celebration.
All active and inactive military and their families are invited to attend. Those active soldiers living in the area or who are home on leave are urged to attend in uniform.
“Words can not explain our gratitude to each and every veteran for their service in defense of our country and special thanks to those who gave the ultimate gift to ensure our freedom,” organizers of the event said.
