Buckfield Community Day kicks off Sept. 2 with new route, activities

BUCKFIELD — The town will celebrate the “Spirit of Community” beginning with the annual Buckfield Community Day Parade and Field Events honoring all community organizations.
In a change from previous years, the parade will take a reverse route, beginning at 10 a.m. and traveling through Buckfield Village to Buckfield Jr. Sr. High School.
First and second place prizes will be awarded for floats, antique autos, engines, children’s display (decorated bicycles) and animals.
All parade-goers are invited to the field activities at the Buckfield Jr. Sr. High School on Morrill St., where there will be plenty of parking, food, games and entertainment.
New this year will be expanded activities for kids of all ages, including “Touch a Truck” and pony rides; Dana Perkins, ventriloquist and magician; and an annual favorite, the bounce house. There will be live entertainment including local singer Haley Cote. Lunch will be available from several food vendors; patrons can indulge their taste buds with pig roast pork, burgers, ices, and beverages. The East Sumner Congregational Church will be on hand with homemade pies. There will be plenty of seating under the tents to meet old friends and make new ones
