Chief Petty Officer Lamarie, of Greene, retires from Navy

GREENE — Willie and Rose Lemarie have announced the retirement of their son, Chief Petty Officer Christopher C. Lemarie, from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service.
Lemarie’s career began in June 1998 by enlisting in the delayed entry program. He reported for active duty at Great Lakes, Ill. in June 1999.
Tours of duty includ aircraft carriers USS Harry S. Truman, USS Theodore Roosevelt and two tours aboard the USS John C. Stennis, two of which included combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lemarie’s decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendations (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Navy Unit Commendation (three Bronze Stars), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, (three Bronze Stars), three Navy E Ribbons, Good Conduct Medal (one Silver Star), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Expeditionary Medal, Armored Forces Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with (one Silver Star).
Lemarie recently returned home to Maine where a formal retirement ceremony was held at the U.S. Naval Museum at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Bremerton, Wash.; The Watch, Petty Officer 1st Class Fernando Jimenez, Po1iland, Ore.; benediction, Lt. Comm. John Monahan (ret.) Boston, Mass.; Battle Hymn of the Republic/Anchors Away, Keyslayer.
A reception for family and friends followed at the former Daniel Stone Inn, Brunswick. Lamarie is married to Charetta (Solf), and they live in Buckley, Wash.
