Treat Memorial Library hosts geneology session, annual book sale in September

LIVERMORE FALLS — Ready to start learning about your family history? Treat Memorial Library will host “Getting Started in Genealogy,” at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.
Participants will explore the basics of genealogical research with B.J. Jamieson, genealogy reference specialist at the Maine State Library, and discover the resources that Treat Memorial Library and the Maine State Library have to offer, including free access to Ancestory and HeritageQuest, as well as family histories, vital records, Maine Old Cemetery Association records and more.
The information will help those interested in family geneology start their recearch with confidence.
The annual Apple Pumpkin Festival Book Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. The library is accepting donations of gently used (or new) books, DVDs and CDs. Those with large donations may call and make arrangements for the acceptance of the delivery (the library has a very small staff).
On the day of the sale, buyer may choose their own donation amount and go home with bags of books. The book sale will take place downstairs in the auditorium.

The knit/crochet group meets at 5:39 p.m. every Tuesday. Time to get a head start on winter projects!
Preschool story time is 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday, and includes stories, crafts and activities.
LEGO Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Sept. 21. September’s challenge will be to build a wind-powered car.
Book group will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12. The group is discussing George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel “1984,” as part of its series on banned books.
