LEWISTON — Community Credit Union raised a total of $4,160 for Make-A-Wish Maine through its spnsorship of the fifth annual Summer Block Party to benefit Make-A-Wish Maine, held Aug. 10.
The credit union partnered with Mad Monkey Media to be the Dunk Tank sponsor, hosting local celebrities to be dunked to raise money for the cause. Locals included both Auburn and Lewiston Police and Fire Department personnel, politicians, as well as Jennifer Hogan and Jenna Beaulieu from Community Credit Union, Corey Garrison from 99.9 The Wolf and Leif Erickson from 107.5 FRANK FM. The event is held annually at Mac’s Grill in Auburn.
For seven days leading up to the event, the credit union sold Wish Stars, raising $1,153, its staff dressed casually, giving donations in support and also raised an additional $1,827 from celebrities getting soaked in the Dunk Tank at the event. All together, the Credit Union was able to raise a total of $4,160 for Make-A-Wish Maine. This year the block party’s goal was to raise $75,000, enough to grant 10 local wishes.
