Rangeley frog, toad jumping contest is Aug. 15

RANGELEY — The annual Frog Jumping contest will leap onto the scene again at this year’s Blueberry Festival, Thursday, Aug. 15.
All frogs and toads can be signed up for the contest starting at 12:30 p.m. and the contest will begin at 1 p.m.
The festival is at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St.
The record jump is 47.5 inches, but there are prizes for frogs and toads that don’t jump that far, too. Organizers ask that participants catch and release their frog or toad in the same location, to keep them happy and alive.
Arrive early to catch your own right at the festival site. A limited supply of buckets and nets are available to borrow, but it helps to bring your own.
The event also needs volunteer catchers, judges and help registering contestants.
