WINTHROP — Many of Kennebec Land Trust’s 1,100 household members will attend the trust’s annual meeting celebration on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Camp Androscoggin. Wayne.
Founded in 1988, the trust has conserved more than 6,300 acres and has constructed 44 miles of trails on KLT land.
The meeting starts with KLT’s Tri-Sport Challenge, which consists of a swim, paddle and run, at 7:30 a.m.. The annual gathering will feature a hike to Perkins Woods and a boat ride to Norris Island, followed by a noon potluck lunch and cookout, with the meeting at 1 p.m.
The day will also include recognition of Phil Brzozowski and Judy Schuppien, who donated 22 acres for the Eastern River Preserve, in Pittston. The preserve features 3,000 feet of frontage on the river. A short meandering path provides public access to the river and features the property’s mixed hardwood and conifer forest, 1,000 feet of frontage on tidal Otter Creek, and scenic views of the Eastern River and an extensive oxbow.
The meeting is open to the public. RSVP by Aug. 15. Cost is $15 a person.
