Auburn Public Library has lots going on for teens this summer

AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has a number of events and activities for teens scheduled in the coming weeks.
Those ages 16 to 24 may check out the Job Corps, which provides free training and opportunity. Contact Cathie Gavett of the Maine Job Corps at 207-458-5369 to find out more about the program and who is eligible. Gavett will then arrange a time to meet with an interested participant at the library.
Teens DIY will feature Upcycled T-shirts from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, in the Teen Space. Bring an old unwanted T-shirt and see what you can create with it.
Teens Summer Matinee movie will be “Clueless,” and will be shown from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 22, in the Androscoggin Community Room. The movie is for ages 13-18 because of the PG-13 rating, and the showing will include the fixings for ice cream sundaes.
The Teen Summer Library Program Kickof will feature Odds Bodkin, who will presents “Hercules in Hell: A Greek Myth,” from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens and adults are welcome to attend a program by master storyteller Odds Bodkin. Accompanied by a 12-string guitar, he dives deep into Greek mythology. This show is not recommended for those under 11 years of age.
The summer library program theme is “A Universe of Stories,” and will run from June 25 to August 8. Participants will pick up activity sheets, and for each of six activities completed, turn in a sheet to be entered into a weekly drawing.
Again, this summer, the library has partnered with Outright L/A to offer Queers + Allies (Q+A), a youth-drive and educational program where LGBTQQAI identifying students and straight allies can work together to create a positive, fun space. There will be games, art projects, guest speakers, field trips and more. Participation counts toward program attendance for the Teen Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock,” and is open to ages 12 to 17.
