BELGRADE — Last summer, the Belgrade Lakes Historical Society launched its Capital Building Campaign to raise money to renovate and restore the Old Meeting House. The initial response has been overwhelmingly positive and the society thanks all its generous donors.
Fundraising will continue this summer with several events scheduled. The first is “Belgrade Lakes Village, Mill Town to Tourist Destination,” a multi-media presentation about the history of Belgrade Lakes Village, on Thursday, June 20. The talk, by Eric Hooglund, will be at 7 p.m. at the 7 Lakes Alliance (formerly the Maine Lakes Resource Center), 137 Main St, Belgrade Lakes Village.

On Thursday, July 18, the society will present “Recovering the Recent Past,” a presentation about letters written by Messalonskee High School students during the 1990s, presented by former Messalonskee High School teacher David Leigh. The pr

Also this summer, the Local History Room at the Center for All Seasons will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Summer hours will start Tuesday, June 18.
Walking Tours of Belgrade Lakes Village will available at 11 a.m. on Fridays starting June 21.
The Belgrade Historical Society will also be present at the Farmer’s Market in Belgrade Lakes Village this summer.
